NOTICE ON U.S.E.P.A. APPROVALS FOR COLISCAN® MEDIA

This information supercedes any other information which may be found in any source that pertains to the approval of any Coliscan® media by the EPA.

Coliscan® Easygel® was approved by Region 4, Section 319 of the USEPA on 11/16/99 for use in Bacteriological Monitoring in a Program of Citizen Volunteer Monitoring developed by the Alabama Dept. of Environmental Management. This approval continues in force.

Coliscan® MF was approved by IDEM (state of Indiana) as described on the Micrology Laboratories web site (www.micrologylabs.com). This approval is for the use of Coliscan® MF that does not include any antibiotic (such as cefsulodin) in its formulation. This approval continues in effect.

Coliscan® media has never been commercially available which contained or contains the antibiotic cefsulodin in any past or currently available form from Micrology Laboratories. Micrology Laboratories received EPA approval for use of a modified

Coliscan® MF medium containing cefsulodin for the purpose of testing drinking water, but this formulation was never sold or commercially available from Micrology Laboratories. This was clearly stated in all protocols for Coliscan® MF, but the information on adding cefsulodin was included to differentiate the available form from the officially EPA approved formulation that was not available from Micrology Laboratories.

Micrology Laboratories’ current designation and offering as "Coliscan MF" specifically means the formulation which does not contain any cefsulodin or cephalosporin antibiotic.

Any future USEPA approved media will be featured as such on the web site www.micrologylabs.com. No other information available from any other source should be considered valid unless verified by Micrology Laboratories.
